Design Sprint project: Health & Wellness App

Embarked on a Design Sprint to create a health and wellness app aimed at encouraging teenagers to develop healthier habits. Over the sprint, we conducted user research, ideation, prototyping, and user testing to design an engaging, user-friendly solution that motivates young users to improve their well-being.

Role

UX/UI Designer

Duration

2 weeks

Team

Stage 1. Map

  • Understand the problem: Find long term goal, and how do we fail. Create ideal persona, define our final goal of the product.

  • Identify all the users pain points along their journey and identify a target area of the product.

  • Do research on related topics such as teenager exercise habits and other similar products.

  • Group discussion to mapped out several user journey scenarios to visualize how users would interact with the proposed features.

Stage 2. Sketch

  • Group brainstorm and create innovative doodles that address the identified needs.

  • Divide or swarm: Organize all doodles to main essential 4 parts, including homepage, daily tasks, get rewards, personal training.

  • 4 steps sketch: notes(5 min), ideas(5 min), crazy'8(8 x 1 min/each = 8 min), sketch solution(30 min).

Stage 3.Decide

  • Heat Map (20min): Looked at each solution sketch that we created the day before without talk, then voted which idea was most interesting (2 votes).

  • Speed Critique (3 x 5 min/each = 15 min): The facilitator narrated each sketch then asked each sketcher if the group missed anything

  • Straw Poll: Each person choosing the favorite sketch and vote.

  • Combine the winning sketches to create the final storyboard.

Stage 4. Prototyping(2 days)

  • Divide and Conquer: Split the team up into smaller work groups, including 2 makers, 1 stitcher, 1 writer, 1 asset collector.

  • Communicate with team members to find a best solution.

  • Cooperate with others to create wireframes, UI kits, mockup, and create interactive prototypes, providing a tangible sense of the app's look and feel, as well as its functionality.

Stage 5. User Testing

  • Organized a series of user testing sessions, employing both qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluate the app's usability and effectiveness.

  • Use Useberry tool to conducted user testing sessions.

  • Conducted 5 interview questions to gather feedback from users.

  • Analyzed feedback to identify patterns and areas for improvement.

Stage 6. Final Presentation

Prepared an in-depth presentation about the process of design sprint, including the research findings, design rationale, user testing outcomes, and the iterative design process. Highlighted the app's potential to use daily routine and reward mechanism to promote teenager to build healthy habits.

Reflections

This project was a testament to the importance of cooperating with others and how to deal with different opinions. Through the discussion and research, we found solutions that truly meet user needs. It honed my skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and effective communication, setting a solid foundation for my future endeavors in UX/UI design.
